Forest School

We are very lucky to have a wonderful Forest School area on site, as part of our outdoor learning provision, and a fully qualified Forest School practitioner on our staff team. All year groups visit Forest School each term, with Reception Class visiting every week come rain or shine.
Forest school is holistic – promoting the children’s physical, emotional and psychological development in a variety of ways – and allows the children to grow as a whole child, following their own interests though exploration and curiosity about the environment around them. They participate in independent active learning; swinging from trees, making dens, building dams across the stream and investigating the plants and animals that inhabit the woodland area.
Time spent in Forest School promotes and encourages:
- Independence
- Confidence
- Resilience
- Self-esteem and emotional intelligence
- Problem solving and creativity
- Perseverance
- Collaboration and empathy
- Respect for peers and the environment
- Risk-taking
- Freedom to explore
- Lots of fun!
