Mereworth School Council
At Mereworth Community Primary School, our School Council gives pupils a genuine voice within the school community, with representatives from Reception through to Year 6 taking on important leadership roles. Representatives are elected democratically by their peers and work together to share ideas, discuss improvements and contribute to decisions that help shape school life. Through these opportunities, pupils develop responsibility, teamwork and communication skills, while promoting the British Values of democracy, mutual respect and active citizenship. It is wonderful to see the children speak so thoughtfully and proudly about the positive difference they can make within our school and wider community.
The School Council has also worked closely with the Eco Team to support the school’s “No Idling” campaign and help launch the Big Walk and Wheel initiative. Pupils helped to promote the campaign across the school community and supported patrols at the school gates to help discourage idling and educate families about the importance of cleaner air and protecting the environment. Their enthusiasm, leadership and commitment to improving the world around them demonstrate the values and qualities we strive to develop in all of our pupils.
